Institut Monte Rosa applies proven educational methods that allow students of various nationalities to become acquainted with each other and with community life. As our school welcomes international students, our courses are held in English.

Monte Rosa welcomes pupils from 8 to 19 years old and offers a lot of various prestigious programs such as:

  • Junior and High School / Grades 6-13
  • Cambridge exams, IELTS, TOEFL, College Boards exams, Diplômes d’études en langue française DELF
  • College-preparatory
  • Business studies / modern languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian and optional Russian and Chinese (Mandarin)

Students who join the American High School program study a variety of subjects which leads them to earn credits toward graduation in Grade 12. Once in Grade 11 and 12, the students prepare for University entrance, taking College Board examinations SAT’s or AP’s. Language certificate courses such as Cambridge, IELTS, and French DELF examination are also offered to add depth to the students’ transcripts.

Junior High school Program

Our educative team provides courses for grade 7 and grade 8. We prepare our students for a lot of subjects that will be taught during the two years before joining our high school program.

Grade 7 / Form 1

Pupils who join Grade 7 will discover or improve themselves in the following subjects:

  • Grammar + Composition
  • EFL (if required)
  • Modern Mathematics
  • Social Studies
  • Sciences
  • French
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Sport

Grade 8 / Form 2

During Grade 8, students will follow these subjects:

  • Elementary German or Spanish may also be studied

High School Program

Our international school welcomes students for completing grades 9 to 12. These years are fundamental for their preparation for higher education.

Grades 9 – 12

Students from grade 9 to 12 benefit from a common year program which is organized with the following subjects:

  • English Literature and English Language

  • Science: Chemistry, Biology, Physics
  • Social Studies, Geography, History, US History
  • Foreign Language
  • Physical Education
  • Business and Economics
  • Art & Design

Our foreign languages teachers provide intensive courses in:

Preparation for university entrance

Students are prepared for university entrance. That is why the academic program of the Anglo-American section is strongly college-preparatory. Students planning to attend American universities are prepared for College Board examinations and receive the high school diploma on successful completion of 12th grade. Specially designed courses are available for entry to business or other colleges.

The postgraduate year offers mature students intensive businesseconomics and computer studies. The important Department of Business Studies offers a full Trans-Academic program in English.

Graduation

The High School diploma is awarded on completion of Grade 12 and is accepted throughout the USA, Canada and at American Colleges & Universities overseas. Twenty Carnegie unity of academic credit with the following subject area limitations are required:

  • Language Arts / Literature in English: 4 units
  • Mathematics: 4 units
  • Laboratory Sciences: 3 units
  • Social Studies: 3 units*
  • Modern Foreign Language: 2 units**
  • Academic Electives: 4 units

* One unit must be in North American history.

** A two-unit sequence in the same language is required. Language classes offered are German, French, Spanish and Italian.
